5 Steps to a Better Spring Skincare Routine

5 Steps to a Better Spring Skincare Routine

Every seasonal transition allows us to make changes. Regardless of whether it involves winter weight loss, spring cleaning or fall decorating, ‘out with the old and in with the new’ seems like a common theme as the seasons change.

Why should your spring skincare routine be any different? With warmer temperatures you are likely to spend more time outside where you are exposed to the sun and maybe even sweat more. Now is the time to start making the transition to a skincare routine that will have you looking and feeling as fresh as a newborn chick!

1.    Start with Spring Cleaning

Did you know that your skincare products have a life span? Just like any household product, skincare creams, gels and serums are prone to compromised quality over time. Most skincare products have an expiration date. As you are spring cleaning your house, check the expiration dates on your health and beauty products. Make sure they are not outdated. If it is questionable, separated or runny, get rid of them! Everyone deserves to have products that work. If you are going through the motions with old or ineffective products, that is just a waste of your precious time.

It is also important to clean your makeup brushes and sponges. Clean those regularly with a mild soap and water. Be sure to rinse them well and allow them to air dry. For something you are using on your face daily, you want to be sure it is as germ-free as possible. Skincare products and tools are not immune to bacteria build up over time (especially after exposure to biological material – i.e. the oils on our hands), so it is important to check best-if-used-by dates on the backs of bottles before applying to the skin.

2.    Get your Face to Glow with HyaGlo®

Are you looking for all-natural skin care products to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day? Look no further than HyaGlo® Skincare’s scientific dermal hydration solutions. HyaGlo’s trademarked, all-natural hyaluronic acid (HA) formula, Glysyn Hyaluronan, uses a unique delivery solution optimized at the molecular level to deliver deep hydration into the layers of the dermis in seconds.

Hyaluronan (or hyaluronic acid) is found most prevalently in the skin. Approximately half of total body hyaluronan is located within the dermal and epidermal layers.  Primary functions of hyaluronan in the skin include moisturization and hydration. Skin turgor is the result of the ability of hyaluronan to absorb, retain and deliver water. With age, there is a distinct decrease in the percent composition of hyaluronan in epidermal tissue likely correlating with the increase in wrinkles and aged skin. Experiments have demonstrated humans lose 77% of naturally occurring hyaluronan in their skin by age 70.

Our unique all-natural topical HA, Glysyn Hyaluronan, has been trademarked since 2011 as a molecularly optimized formula for maximum hydration and moisture absorption. It also acts as a great transdermal absorbing agent to allow other products to be absorbed by the skin better too.

Molecular Weight Matters

For the skin to benefit from topical use of HA, the molecules of a product must be readily available for the skin to absorb. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid is not small enough for absorption and so, it lays on top of the skin. On the other hand, low molecular weight hyaluronic acid is absorbed by the skin and penetrates deeper. Specifically, Glysyn Hyaluronan is tailored at the molecular level for topical application and optimized for transdermal delivery and absorption.

HyaGlo Hydrating Serum

Smooth your dry winter skin with HyaGlo® Hydrating Serum. This concentrated all-natural, scientific serum replenishes skin and results in plump, glowing and noticeably smoother skin. Like other HyaGlo products, Glysyn Hyaluronan is the key ingredient in this all-natural skin serum, our first and most popular HyaGlo product.

Hydrating Serum is true to its name. It works naturally to relieve dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and dry skin, all which can be magnified due to the harshness of winter. As you transition to spring, this serum alleviates fine lines and wrinkles, leaves skin dramatically refined, more youthful appearing and silky smooth.

Repeated applications of HyaGlo Hydrating Serum results in a long-term skincare solution that addresses the source of concern without using abrasive substances or chemicals found in other cosmetics. It is designed for all skin types and is designed to be applied twice daily after washing your face. This is the ideal product to add to your spring skin care routine.

HyaGlo Moisturizer

One of the best ways to help moisturize and hydrate your skin, no matter what the season, is with a high-quality, all-natural moisturizer like HyaGlo® Moisturizer. This highly concentrated HA moisturizer is designed to enhance hydration and soothe skin with all-natural, effective ingredients.

It is enriched with Glysyn Hyaluronan, our vegan-friendly HA formula to draw in moisture for healthy skin hydration. HyaGlo Moisturizer includes vitamins A, C, E & B complex peptides for long-lasting smooth and supple skin. It is designed to enhance hydration and soothe skin and is uniquely and naturally water-based to eliminate the need for chemical manipulation.

HyaGlo Moisturizer contains two other key ingredients besides water - marshmallow root and peptide complex.

Marshmallow root is derived from the root of the Altaea plant. It is known to relieve occasional skin irritation, help soften skin, and have aseptic qualities.  It also provides relief from occasional itching, redness and chafing. Marshmallow root is tolerable by those with hypersensitive skin.

Peptide complex helps penetrate the outer layer of skin more deeply and signal to the skin to increase production of collagen and elastin. Regular use leads to firmer, more youthful-looking skin, and it works well in tandem with hyaluronic acid. This peptide complex reduces the appearance of dark undereye circles and improves the skin’s natural defense barrier for protection from rays, pollution and other toxins.

HyaGlo Moisturizer is suited for all skin types. For the best results, use morning and night after cleansing your skin with your favorite face wash. It works best when used over the HyaGlo Hydrating Serum.

HyaGlo Clarifying Serum

The next product in the HyaGlo family is HyaGlo® Clarifying Serum, designed to naturally address occasional skin irritations. It is a revolutionary formula that combines the benefits of beta glucans from schizophyllan to relieve and restore blemished skin as well as improve skin texture and appearance with our natural HA. Schizophyllan is a powerful beta glucan derived from mushrooms to naturally clarify and restore problem skin.

HyaGlo Clarifying Serum is the perfect addition to your spring skin care routine. As you spend more time outside, you are likely to get more cuts and scrapes and expose your skin more. Clarifying Serum can help soothe dry and cracked skin. It works well on any problem skin or skin irritations you might encounter.

Created for problematic skin, gently massage the serum into the affected area after cleaning and as needed.

HyaGlo Facial Mist

HyaGlo® Facial Mist is a vegan-friendly hyaluronic acid facial mist or setting spray that instantly refreshes skin and boosts hydration. This light spray is infused with cucumber and hydrophilic (water-loving) HA for a quick hydration boost with skin soothing properties.

We combined two of our favorite key ingredients - Glysyn Hyaluronan and cucumber extract - to develop this mist that delivers hydration deeply into the skin. Cucumber extract provides soothing and cooling effects, making it especially beneficial for those with sensitive or irritated skin. Cucumber is known as a superfood for the skin.

It is a popular ingredient in skincare because it has been used for decades to address common skin concerns like hydration, aging and inflammation.

Loaded with antioxidants, which help fight oxidative damage caused by free radicals, the cucumber extracts are also rich in vitamin C, caffeic acid and folic acid. These can help to brighten skin, help increase collagen production and defend against premature aging of the skin. The cooling effect of cucumbers may also help ease occasional irritation caused by sunburn, which could be more prevalent as you enjoy the spring weather.

Use the HyaGlo Facial Mist on clean skin throughout the day to prime and hydrate. It will boost your skin hydration, making you feel refreshed. Who wouldn’t want to add that to their winter skin care routine?

3.    Hydrate Yourself

Now you know about four great hyaluronic acid products to keep your skin healthy and hydrated on the outside. However, your spring skin care routine requires that you hydrate yourself from the inside-out, too! Hydration plays a vital role in healthy skin. We recommend at least 64 ounces of water as part of your daily diet (though actual recommendations may be based on weight).  If you are not keen on plain water, try adding a natural flavoring to it like a lemon, lime or cucumber. Remember, some foods are also high in water content like celery, cucumbers and oranges. Carry a water bottle with you throughout the day to stay hydrated and avoid excessive amounts of caffeine and alcohol, which can dehydrate you.

4.    Exfoliate your Skin

Get rid of dead winter skin by exfoliating your entire body! Make sure to include your face, arms, elbows, knees and feet. The sooner the rough, dead patches are gone, the better you and your skin will feel. However, be as gentle as you can. The best way to exfoliate is with a hot bath and a gentle scrub. Remember, most scrubs are too harsh for your face, so use a face-only exfoliation scrub for the thinner areas of your skin like face, neck and decolletage.

5.    Eat Right, Exercise

It goes without saying that spring is a time of growth and rejuvenation. If you’ve already fallen flat on your new year’s resolutions, it’s okay to start fresh. Healthy skin is a result of many things, including proper diet and exercise.

Great foods for healthy skin include lettuce, broccoli, grapefruit, carrots, apples and watermelon. Studies have found that citrus fruits are especially helpful for skin health. Foods rich in Omega-3s like fish, seafood, walnuts, flax seeds and chia seeds are also good for your skin.

Exercise increases blood flow, which helps maintain healthy skin cells. Take advantage of the warm spring weather to get out and exercise to increase your outdoor activity and get your skin healthy. Remember, though to use sunscreen to protect your skin!
